Frozen Clare Glens

Happy New Year! This photograph was taken last week in the Clare Glens. The cold spell had caused ice to form in any slow moving areas of the river. I arrived late in the day as the sun was starting to set, so I was fortunate to be able to keep it in the frame. The raw file was tonemapped to help bring out some of the shadow detail.

I usually put together a year in review post, but I haven’t had much time this year. My photographic highlights of 2010 were placing 2nd in the National photography competition run by An Taisce for the photograph “Surf’s Up” and having 3 photos selected for the Limerick City Council 2011 calendar. In total I posted 60 new shots in 2010 which is a lot less than previous years. This was down to the fact that I didn’t get a chance to get out and about with the camera much this year due to being busy with my day job as well as due to the non-photographic highlight of the year – getting married!
