Also I can really recommend the Volvo Ocean Racing festival in Galway if you can make it next weekend. There’s a great buzz around the place and some fantastic photo opportunities. Next Saturday, there is a display by the Red Arrows at noon and the Round the World yachts are racing in the harbour at 1.00pm. There’s also the chance to win some great prizes on pix.ie.
Here are some photos from this weekend’s action by club members Dickon and Darren.
The Volvo Ocean Race is coming to Ireland and to celebrate, Galway is hosting a 15-day festival of sailing, music, culture and craic and all for free! This takes place from 23rd May to 6th June.
Highlights include free concerts, street performance, an attempt to break the world record for Céilí dancing, a Red Arrows air display, markets, interactive exhibits including a simulator and the opportunity to be winched to the top of the mast of a Volvo Open 70 racing boat.
Lookwest.ie in conjunction with Pix.ie are running a photo competition with some great prizes along with some VIP passes to get into prime photographic vantage points. Full details can be found here.
Since part of lookwest.ie’s brief is to encourage and foster the creativity and special spirit of the West of Ireland, and to showcase that beauty to the rest of the world, it would be fantastic if we could have some local winners.
The next Camera Club Competition will be held on Tuesday 19th May and the topic is ‘Picture Within a Picture’.
