Poulnabrone Dolmen is one of my favourite places. It helps me regulate my perspective. The history seeps into me and I imagine a time when life was a lot slower and simpler.

Latchiko: Billboard

§ May 17th, 2011

It took a while to track down, but here's a photo of the final billboard used by Nokia to promote the N8 which I took for a spin a few weeks ago. It was great to see it in the flesh, thanks to the people on boards.ie for helping me to track it down.

Latchiko: Father Ted Olympics – Egg Toss

§ May 16th, 2011

Probably one of the funniest games I've ever seen! One member of the team throws an egg to the other member - the team that throws it the furthest and catches it without breaking it is the winner.

Latchiko: What Are You Looking At?

Another abstract photo from the Great Limerick Run which took place at the weekend. Maybe it's a little bit too different?

Latchiko: Slow

§ May 1st, 2011

This was taken during the Great Limerick Run which took place in the city today. There was a great atmosphere, with people lining the streets to cheer on the runners. The weather was lovely too which I'm sure helped. Fair play to everyone who took part, I think I might give it a go myself next year.

So, I wanted to try and capture something a little bit different. I had considered using one of the promotional signs that are dotted around the city as a background but I thought it was too obvious. Instead I went with this idea, good old juxtaposition! I didn't have time to scout the route to find somewhere with "slow" written on the road, but luckly I had Google Streetview. I used Streetview to go along the 10k course (which was tiring enough, never mind running it!) and found the one place where it was painted on the ground. After that it was just a matter of framing a runner passing by.

This is part of a series I am working on called "Interactions". Essentially it's odd/humorous interactions between inanimate and animate subjects. It sounds more complicated than it is, I could probably summarise it as humorous street photography. More to come!
