Gillian Beth (from ShowOffDublin) and I decided to collaborate on a brilliant grunge styled shoot recently. We had the beautiful rlf Rachel Lavelle-Fee modelling and amazingly professional Lisa Shannon as head make up artist. The following are some of the fashion shots and portraits from the day.
It was a beautiful day for the first be5k run at Russborough House. It was run by Body Evolution in aid of Barretstown. All the women did really well and the race was made that little bit easier with such a scenic course. You can find more photos over at Body Evolution.
‘Open to the public‘ promises to be a fantastic photography exhibition. It is a group exhibition run by year two photography students from IADT, there is a huge variety of photographers, so expect to be blown away!
Opening May 5th 6-9pm
Runs daily 12-6pm
05th May – 12th May
The Joinery 6 Rosemount Terrace, Arbour Hill, Dublin 7.
“At a time when public and private places coalesce and where private life is blurred by access to the virtual, photography is both reassessing its role and confirming its heritage. Open to the Public, an exhibition of photographs by year two photography students from IADT-Dun Laoghaire explores these notions through a diverse collection of images. From street photographs to conntemporary interiors the work tries to assess what is public and what is private.“
A quick ten/fifteen minute photo stroll around Dublin city centre one late night in March. It left me with this beautiful image which was begging to be converted to black and white! When walking around this area I almost always stop and look at the tower, it’s so impressive!!
Last week I was lucky enough to have been included in the final 5 for ‘Photographer of the year‘ at the Irish student media awards. It was a super night and absolutely amazing to win. I wanted to say a quick thanks to Oxygen & all the sponsors, IADT and a big shout out to anybody who has shot with me, gone on a photowalk, in essence all the photographers I’ve met over the past few years. In my opinion it is meeting and networking with other photographers that makes us push ourselves to be better photographers!!

Last July some awesome people over at boards.ie came up with an idea to shoot, process, design and publish an online magazine within 24 hours. I loved the idea and decided to get on board(Honestly no pun intended, that actually just came out when I was typing!). Rowan and I decided to do it together and challenge ourself. Armed with a red fullface helmet, the other photographer as a model and given five shots to tell a story. I was very interested to see the two sides and individuality our narratives would take on.

My Narrative
I wanted to create an action/comic styled photo for the magazine. Quite a funky look after a minute of playing in photoshop.

Hopefully by now, you have all heard about my first solo photography exhibition ‘Earthy Creatures‘ which takes place in Filmbase, on Tuesday March 1st at 19:00.
On the lead up to the exhibition I have been documenting a few of the mini-projects I have been working on while getting ready for the photography exhibition. This gives you a glimpse into how much thought, work and detail I put into my work, not just my photography but minute details such as the colour and texture of the paper on my invites. It’s easy to do a job well but to excel & stand out, you have to do mix it up and do things differently. I paid visit to a number of stationary shops around Dublin to find the best material I could for the invites. I wanted quality paper that had texture and strength for when people received their invites.
Rich & Luxurious hand made invitations
Everything to do with the series/exhibition I wanted to include my earthy theme throughout. You can see this by having a look the competition I ran last week in Dublin too. Every invite had a leaf hand glued to the paper it was typed on. Gold ribbon was tied around each invite for a rich exclusive touch. A few weeks before the making of the VIP invites, I requested my very own wax stamper/sealer to be created in Canada with my photography logo engraved on it. I wanted these invites to feel very personalised, rich, to ooze luxury and above all, stand out from the crowd. I’m really happy with how they’ve come out.
