Here is the before and after of this image which I’ve called Anna Livia Pleurabelle after James Joyces character in Finnegans Wake. I used layers and layers here. Possibly 30 or so to achieve the effect here. I’m really happy with the colours here and love the burst of electric blue the fish give to the finished image.
Speaking of layers, I’m giving a weekend workshop in November ’13 on Layers and Textures so if you’re interested get in touch with me. A knowledge of your way around Photoshop is required for this workshop. We’ll have a couple of hours shooting models and the rest of the time we will spend editing the shots we’ve taken over the next day and a half. If you have no photoshop and are interested in seeing whether or not you enjoy making art from your photos then do what I did and download Gimp which is a free platform similar to photoshop. I also do beginner workshops throughout the year so do contact me if you’re interested in that either
This is the before and after of the shot I took of Rosyln. I asked her to stand in front of a white wall so that I could change the background to whatever I liked. I thought I’d keep it simple in the end and just make her the center of attraction. I made her hat a little more raised height wise and I extended her skirt material to cover more of the front of her body and I changed the colour of it from blue to purple because purple is a complimentary colour to the yellow gold on her eyes and arm.
Now its back to the drawing board to start work on some new images for my next exhibition whenever and wherever that may be and to get going on processing the photos from some of the photo shoots that I’ve done recently.
It was exciting to see my image being used for the dustcover of a book. The editor told me that he would send me a couple of copies so I’m looking forward to seeing those.
Besides organizing which images I’m going to use for an upcoming exhibition I’ve mostly been procrastinating because, well because that’s what I do best of course.
I’ve one, two, three, four separate shoots that I’ve worked on recently still in the pipeline work wise. What can I say.
It’s a long pipeline ???
But I do have plans and hope to have them all finished by the end of the week so to my lovely children; farewell
This was inspired by a magazine advertisement I saw while reading on an aeroplane last month. In the advert here was a girl wearing a gas mask while posing in lovely clothing. I saw no reason at all for the gas mask but even so it caught my attention which I guess all good advertisements should do. So anyway, I thought I’d do one myself and here it is. By the way this piece does not relate in any way to me or my life. Just thought I’d add that in case my Dad who checks out this blog every now and then gets worried about my state of mind.
Below is a stock photo of a room which I duplicated and flipped and blurred to give it a little more depth.
This is my 998th image and I hope to reach the 1000th mark by the weekend.
Processing by moi
So I made my decision and did a bit of work of my own instead of working on my commissions. This one also has a story behind it pertaining to my life right now. Again I’m not explaining this one but leaving the symbolism to speak for itself.
Having completed the above picture means I am only 3 images away from my 1,000th image. Now, should I do three more or work on my commissions ???
