Our 30th year of Mallow Camera Club has come to an end with the AGM last evening.
There was a very large attendance at the meeting and the following officers and committee were elected for the 2016-17 season.

The official Facebook page Mallow Camera Club 30 Years Growing has a new logo, look and a new name as the 30 year celebration is over.
The page is now called “Mallow Camera Club News” and we will continue to update this page on a regular basis for your enjoyment.
The 30th Anniversary Dinner will take place next Thursday 29th September at 7:30pm in Springfort Hall Newtowpothouse Mallow.
This is our last event of the 30th year celebrations and what a busy year we have had! There will be entertainment provided by Noel Walsh and Teddy Sugrue. A short presentation will be given John Hooton and the founder members of Mallow Camera Club on the founding and forming of the club which should be very interesting.

This competition is for secondary school pupils there are 2 competition one for Junior cycle and one for senior cycle.
Prizes for the competition in each category are:
1st place €50, 2nd €30 and 3rd place €20
You are allowed to enter 2 images.
The Theme of the competition is “The Way We Live”
Your images can be taken on a digital camera or your phone or any other digital device.
Maximum size of image not more than 2mg.
Entries are to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Inappropriate images will not be accepted.
The closing date for the entries is 20th September 2016.
The judges decisions are final, there will be a panel of judges from Mallow Camera Club to adjudicate the competition.
With your entry please state your name, age, school, junior or senior cycle, a title for your image and your email address.
There will be a prize giving night and an exhibition of the best images entered in October 2016 a date will be sent to all qualifying authors.

Mallow Camera Club were placed 3rd in the inaugural Rebel Cup competition last weekend. Congratulations to Cork Camera Group who the overall title, and Blarney Camera Club who came second.
The judges gave the best overall image on our panel to “Scrum” by Janusz Trzesicki, well done Janusz. The photographers with images on the panel were Viv Buckley, Paul Tips, Janusz Trzesicki, Jim McSweeney, Joy Buckley, Teddy Sugrue, John Hooton, Peggy O’Brien, Brid Coakley and Neily Curtin.
Thanks to Teddy and Peggy who went along early to put up the panel. The exhibition from the 10 Cork City and County Clubs stays in County Hall until 29th April so pop in and have a look.
Mallow Camera Club members had great success at the recent Irish Photographic Federation Photographer of the Year competitions
Viv Buckley won a sliver medal in the advanced mono print section
Breda O’Mullane won a bronze medal in the Intermediate projected image competition.
Bill Power competing for Cork Camera group was declared overall Photographer of the Year.
At the Nature Photographer of the Year the following day Jim Mc Sweeney won Silver and Bronze medals and an honourable mention. Photo Viv Jim and Breda with their medals at the recent 30 year slide show evening.
Our first 30th year event will take place on Monday 22nd Feb at 8pm in the Mercy Centre Mallow it is one of our “Down Memory Lane” nights. On 22nd Feb we are holding a slides night from the pre-digital era this will be presented by 5 of our original founder members who each will show their top 20 slides and the stories that go with them.
We are looking forward to the presentation by John Hooton, John Doheny, Colman Culhane, Pat Heavin and Pat Sheehan.

Monday 2nd December Meeting
This meeting will be an open projected images competition.
Each member is allowed to enter 5 images, they can be colour or monochrome and of any subject.
Please bring your 5 images on a memory stick or a CD at 8:30pm on Monday
Alternatively if you can’t make the meeting but you would still like to have your images in the competition you can email your images by Monday lunchtime to email@example.com.
There will be separate sections for beginners, intermediate and advanced photographers.
Mallow Camera Club exhibition 11th Dec
Each member is asked to bring in 2 images each that they would like to have on exhibition at the forthcoming exhibition in the Mallow Primary Healthcare clinic for the 2 weeks before Christmas. If you already have them printed and mounted then bring them in on Monday to give to the exhibition organiser. If you need your images printing and mounting please have them ready on a memory stick to have them printed and mounted. There will be a cost associated with printing and mounting your images. We will give you further details on Monday.
Mallow Camera Club Christmas Dinner Monday 16th Dec in Springfort Hall Mallow
If you have not already given your name into Margaret then please do so on Monday evening so we have exact numbers to give to the restaurant. the cost of the 3 course dinner is 26 euro per person payable on the night of the dinner.
This year’s Club Christmas Dinner and social evening will take place on Monday 16th December in Springfort Hall Mallow at 7:30pm. There is a 3 course set menu on offer at 26 euro per person and we have a private dining room for our meal. After the dinner there will be a fun table quiz set by our very own quiz master Pat Sheehan. If you would like to attend the dinner then please let me know on Monday evening or get in touch by email firstname.lastname@example.org. I will be collecting names and numbers as the hotel need to know how many to expect. Partners or friends are also welcome to attend. Viv
