Mallow Camera Club Season Starting September 5th

Mallow Camera Club new season is starting next Monday September 5th, 8.00pm in the Mercy Centre Mallow.

We will go through the club programme for the next two months.
Members please bring 4 – 5 images that you took during the summer which we display.

Also note that the the Camera Skills Classes will start on September 12th, 7.00pm.

SACC 2016 Nature Regional Qualifier

Great success for club members today at the SACC nature photographer of the year competition in the Celtic Ross Hotel Rosscarbery.
Jim McSweeney won gold and sliver medals in the non advanced colour Print open. In the non advanced print themed section he won the competition and was awarded the silver medal, and in the project image open competition Jim was awarded an honourable mention and topped off with the gold medal in this category. Very well done Jim with your beautifulimages, 2 gold 2 silver and an HM.
Further success for the club when Breda O’Mullane won the non adavanced Insect themed competition and was awarded the silver medal. Well done Breda!
Then Teddy Sugrue won an honourable mention in the advanced projected image competition, congratulations Teddy!
Finally Bill Power was awarded an honourable mention in the advanced Natural World competition competition for Cork Camera group, well done Bill.
Other club members who had images accepted at the competition today for the final of the Nature Photographer of the Year competition that is going to take place on the weekend of the 20th Feb in Kilkenny are Paul Tips, Chris Bourke, Peggy O’Brien. A proud day for the club today. There were a number of club members there today to support our nature photographers and we really enjoyed a day of great photography.

Tomorrow evening we have our photoshop hour starting at 7pm please bring your laptops with you.

This will be followed by a talk about long exposure photography and using filters for seascape photography in preparation for our weekend in Dingle next weekend by John Hooton and finally Theresa Collins will show us some of her images from her portfolio. I am sure that the members competing in the Nature competition today will bring their images and awards with them to show you! See you all tomorrow.

Club News

Monday 23rd November Club meeting

Here is the program for Monday’s club meeting

  • First of all make sure that you bring your camera, tripod and camera manual.
  • The first part of the evening will consist of an indoor shoot using glow sticks and torches.
  • Then there will be a question and answer session where you can ask any camera and photography related questions.
  • Pat Sheehan and John Kiely will be showing their portfolios as well
  • After this we’ll show some examples of nature shots and previous SACC/IPF nature winners.

All members are invited to John Hooton’s book launch “Dingle My Only Place” in the Mallow Primary Health Care Clinic.

Nature Club Competition Monday 30th November 

This month’s club competition will be held on Monday 30th November at 8.00pm.
The theme is Nature and we will follow the same rules as the IPF for this.
The rules can be found in the PDF that can be downloaded at the following link:  IPF Nature Competition Rules

This will be a print and projected competition.
Number of entries:
– Prints:  2   (I reduced the number of prints from 4 to 2).  The prints must be mounted.
– Projected:  4.  Projected images must be 2000 pixels on the longest side and quality 10.

  • Entries must be submitted by Friday Nov 27th, 7.00pm, they must include image titles.
  • Digital copies of the printed entries must be submitted.
  • Full size digital copies of your entries must be submitted.
  • Prints can be brought in on the night but must be submitted by 7.45pm.

Mallow night shoot – Mon Nov 16th

There will be a night shoot in Mallow town Monday evening Nov 16th.
Start time is around 7.30.  We can meet at the Mercer Center and disperse from there.

If the weather is playing havoc then we can continue the Still Life workshop.

Breda O’Mullane will also show her portfolio.
