Eamonn O'Doherty sculptor Anna Livia or the Floozie in the Jacuzzi

Floozie in the Jacuzzi

Remember the Floozie in the Jacuzzi or to give her her real name, Anna Livia. The statue lived in O’Connell Street for about 10 years from 1988. She was removed to make way for the Spire and has been in storage in St. Anne’s Park Raheny since then. However, today she was towed on a barge up the Liffey to Victoria Quay where she was hoisted up onto a lorry and made her way to her new home at Croppy’s Acre near Heuston Station.

Standing by the lorry was this gentleman, Eamonn O’Doherty and he turned out to be the sculptor no less. He has lots of pieces in public places throughout Ireland his most notable (apart from the Floozie) being James Connolly down near Liberty Hall, the Tree of Gold outside the Central bank and The Emigrants in Derry.

However, as said to me today, “I have lots of pieces but the only one people are interested in is this feckin thing”.

So best wishes to Eamonn and his Floozie as she settles into her new home.
