Rainy night in Eyre Square
Last year, the traders at the Christmas Market in Eyre Square had to contend with freezing temperatures – this year, gale force winds and driving rain meant that only the very hardy (and maybe some of the foolhardy) were wandering around the stalls. Here’s hoping that the weather improves over the coming weeks – the market will be in Galway until December 18th.

CillDaraMan: Morning in Kilbride

 Morning in Kilbride

Last Sunday morning I headed off early (for me anyway) to Manor Kilbride in Co Wicklow to try to catch the last of the Autumn colour, I knew that I wasn’t going to be there at the best time for the light but I had other commitments later on in the day so I had to make the best of it.
One consolation was that I had the place pretty much to myself which doesn’t happen too often this time of the year, it always seems to be busy with a mix of photographers and the general public getting in each others way.

inphotos.org: WP Super Cache Scheduler and Admin Bar Link

§ November 29th, 2011

I made a few changes to WP Super Cache over the last week. The garbage collection user interface received an overhaul and it’s now possible to schedule the those jobs using a timer or a clock. It can also send you an email each time it runs!

Another major change was the addition of a “Delete Cache” link on the admin bar for logged in users. This may seem strange, but it will only show if you have disabled caching for known users. Unfortunately this is needed because of the security measures required. It only deletes the supercache file(s) for the current page, not any legacy files associated with it.

If you’re feeling adventurous go download the development version from this page and give it a whirl. I really need feedback that this works well so please leave a comment if you try it.

The version number won’t change and when the next release comes out you’ll still get the upgrade notification!

§ November 29th, 2011

On Monday the 12th of December club members will be meeting outside the Opera House in Cork at 7pm. The group will then spread around the the city taking night shots.

A great opportunity for new members to learn how to capture night images. Also a good chance for some of the more experienced members to show off. Make sure you dress up warmly, bring a tripod if you have one and a plastic bag to pull over your camera in case it rains.

Also on the Thursday the 15th of December the club night out will take place in the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow. All club members and their partner/partners are welcome to come. The meal cost €19,95 for one or €39.90 for two. We will be meeting up around 8.02pm. Hope to see you there.

In a field of bubbles...

The kids were playing with bubbles and for some reason they were sticking to everything instead of bursting. We had bubble hedges and a bubble lawn. Liveview + tilt screen was made for these opportunities ;-)

Mark the bouncer

Thumbs up from Mark

Mark was trying to clear the drunken rabble from the pub on Saturday night. Of course that drunken rabble was us after the Boards Book launch! Mark is from Ballyfermot and has only been working in the pub for the past two weeks. Prior to that he worked in a lap dancing club where his 6′ 1″ Russian girlfriend still works as a lap dancer. That’s 6′ 1″ without her heels!

Things are looking up for Mark :-)

Maumturk Evening

Dramatic clouds over the Maumturks mountain range in Connemara this afternoon. After gale force winds and heavy rain yesterday, it was a fine sunny day on the West today, though  the wind along the hilltops was ferocious.
