Reminds me of a Preying Mantis

The Preying Mantis

While in the Trafford Centre in Manchester I came across a quartet of classical musicians who were entertaining the shoppers.

So last year was a great one for me at the St.Patrick's Day parade in Dublin city centre. This year, Meeko and I are going to stay local and visit the Balbriggan parade. Despite living here for near 6 years, I've never seen it. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Latchiko: Abandoned Shopping Trolley Part II

§ March 16th, 2010

It's been a while since I had time to get out and about with the camera so I was up bright and early the weekend before last and went for a spin. I had a few ideas in mind but none of them worked out for various reasons. I ended up happiest with this photo which wasn't planned at all.

Part I is here if you're interested. I'm not sure what draws me to abandoned shopping trolleys, maybe it's their graphical nature, maybe it's the cover of the Gomez album of the same name.

Peter Cox: August Workshop Sold Out, September Dates Added

§ March 16th, 2010

I realize it's been a while since I've been active here - things have been very hectic. Just a quick couple of points - Firstly, my August 9-18 southwestern photography workshop has filled, so I have added a second workshop in September - from the 12th to the 21st. Details can be found on the workshops page. Secondly, in order to keep up to date with what's going on, I encourage you to follow me on Twitter. My handle there is @petercoxphoto. I make pretty frequent updates there.

Watching time go by.

Ok I know some of you may be a bit tired of all the Nautical shots and I promise they will end soon, but I do love this photo looking over to the other harbour wall. The 2 people at the end of the wall just made it for me.

The Irish Blog Awards will take place at the end of March in Galway. On the day itself, the big do is usually preceded by a bunch of other smaller activities. One is a photowalk planned for a few hours during the day – basically , a bunch of photographers roaming about the city taking snaps of anything that moves. As far as I can tell, the route is still to be decided but I’d be amazed if the Long Walk isn’t included. Picture above is of the Long Walk at low tide.

The list of websites nominated for an award is here [caution - those of you easily distracted might want to set aside an afternoon or two to browse through all of the sites].

Well done to Damien and crew for all the work organising the awards.
