belfast cityscape at night - lagan weir and the obel tower

I’ve taken some night-shots of Belfast recently, and if the rain stays off I’ll be out again over the next few days. Unfortunately Belfast doesn’t have much of a cityscape that can be seen from the river, being slightly unusual in its design as most of the city faces away from the river/docks.

There are plans currently under-way to change that, through the development of the Titanic Quarter. This was taken from the steps leading down to the river between the Lagan Weir and M3 Cross Harbour. In the shot is the Lagan Weir and The Boat tower in construction.

The Galleries on Mallow Camera Club are back in operation! The site used to use a modified fGallery to allow members to upload photos but there’s an exploit for the last version of that plugin, it doesn’t work in WP 2.9.x and the author has abandoned the project unfortunately.

WordPress now supports galleries anyway so I converted the fGallery galleries into pages and upload files in the posts table. Works nicely now!

Mallow Camera Club: Galleries are back

§ January 21st, 2010

The Club Galleries are back! The plugin we used before, fGallery, isn’t being maintained any more and I had to convert the gallery information into WordPress posts and uploads. About an hour’s work in all, and a script that I will publish at some stage on my blog.

The uploading procedure is completely different now however, but it’s easy enough and I have updated the “Upload photos” page above to reflect those changes.

The Almond Croissant Diaries: Oxford

§ January 21st, 2010

Just a quick post (need a break from using my brain!) to pop up some photos from my weekend in Oxford. After all the snow, we were really lucky to have a lovely, sunny and somewhat warm day to do some exploring. Here are some of the places we explored.

Barry Somers: Lets all hang out! (Cable Car)

§ January 21st, 2010

Can you go to San Francisco and not go on a cable car?
Of course not! I can't recommend them enough, if your visiting for a few days be sure to buy a travel pass for around $18 (covers three days) it allows you to use metro (underground), buses and cable cars for as much as you want....otherwise the cable car alone is $5 a go!Interesting fact stated by one of the drivers is cable cars actually use wooden blocks as breaks.
