Darren Greene: its cold out there

§ January 5th, 2010

I don't normally convert my flower shots to monochrome but in this instance I think the coldness of the conversion adds something to it considering the weather of late. Will it ever get warm again in Ireland?

Highlight of 2009

Well its 2010, and to anyone who is still checking this page every so often, firstly thank you for doing so and secondly may I wish you all a very happy new year.

So since I am not on my normal computer for processing images I have no idea what this image will look like, I was going through some of my archived photos trying to find the best thing photography wise that happened for me in 2009, and without a shadow of a doubt, it has to be the 2 opportunities I had to go to Mondello Park to photograph both cars and bikes. Fair play, if you pardon the pun, to John Fair for enabling this to happen. I also had a load of other pictures from last year that are also very dear to my heart but Mondello really sticks out as the biggest highlight.

Anyhow as I say happy new year and yes, for 2010, I do plan on taking AND posting more pictures then the crappy year that was 2009.

The Almond Croissant Diaries: Just passing through

§ January 5th, 2010

005/365 Taken on my way up to Durham, a typical view from the train during our slow crawl into Leeds after getting stuck behind a broken down train. I was amazed that we were only 40 minutes late - I thought the snow would delay us a lot more.

Will Knott: Frosted fountains

§ January 5th, 2010

There is a standard criticism about the way pampas tends to be planted in Ireland. Usually there is just one plant in the middle of a lawn looking like a green fountain. In the wild, there are meadows of the stuff. A field constantly moving.

Unless its frozen, like here.

Frozen Pampas

Pity I need to move mine, planted it too close to the house so you literally have to climb through it to get to the compost bin. I’ll accept tips on how to move or separate it.

Barry Somers: In soviet russia….

§ January 5th, 2010

It looks like something out of Soviet Russia but this is part of the new "Parade Kiosk" on the Parade in Kilkenny City just beside the Castle, certainly not inkeeping with the lovely castle :(

Jennifer Farley Photography: Christmas Morning, Clonmellon 2009

§ January 5th, 2010

This was the lovely wintery scene we had from our kitchen window on Christmas morning. There was actually only a little bit of snow but there was such a heavy frost it made for a very pretty winter wonderland.
