One of the most interesting people we met in Australia was this aborigine. His name translates into "thunder is coming" but everyone calls him Smiley (and for good reason!). He runs a campsite on Fraser Island along with Brother Troy and, after dark, they demonstrated some of their native singing and dancing and music as well as telling stories. Fascinating stuff.
See the entire Australia series.

Academy Street, as it was back in August this year. Construction work has finished since. I wonder if it’ll ever start up again?

Gallaher's Views: Blackrock Castle
This mundane photo is a recreation of one featured here. Since my mum grew up around the corner, I was familiar with the area and thought I'd give it a go.
As you can immediately see, the main differences are the car park (reclaimed land), the shipping containers over in the port and obviously it's a different season. I'd originally planned on using my models (wife & kids) to recreate the people but the traffic meant it wasn't safe to do so :(
Many thanks to Andy McInroy for collecting, scanning and making these old images available
