Figmentation: Poppy

§ June 6th, 2009

A poppy that was growing in a field of....something. There were lots of poppies, but this was nearest the gate that I had jumped over to get in. Six days to moving day...

Darren Greene: gangs of new york

§ June 6th, 2009

Well not really a gang, more family. I'm heading back to New York on the 10th June for a few days. One of my most favourites cities to return to (4th year in a row for me).

Hot off the Memory Card: Heading out to Surf

§ June 6th, 2009

Four lads heading out to surf at Inch, Co. Kerry. Actually, I hadn't seen the sea so calm for so long: about 5 days now without decent surf.

Down, down, down the stairs

Looking down the stairs in the public car park in Ennis, County Clare a few weeks ago. That was one hell of a tight car park to navigate. There was hardly any room to make corners or go up and down ramps.

Elevator only goes to the top two floors too and a sign on the ground floor warns parents or people with buggies and kids to park up there.

Latchiko: Wet Lahinch

§ June 6th, 2009

Continuing the beach theme, this photo of Lahinch was taken while knee deep in water. Unfortunately I wasn't knee high in boots.

Having gotten so wet I've processed this out of stubborness, desparate to make the cold, wet drive home worthwhile. The final result is closer to what I was hoping to photograph rather than the overcast, dull scene which awaited me.

Grannymar: Bridge over fish in water…

§ June 6th, 2009

The Sixmilewater River

The Sixmilewater River enters Lough Neagh at Antrim Town.

The water on this side of the bridge was like glass, but it held a surprise as I looked down from on top of the bridge.

A shoal of Dollaghan

Dollaghan, a Trout which behaves in a similar way to a Sea Trout but instead of going to sea it runs to Lough Neagh which is the largest freshwater lake in the UK, covering 153 sq miles (400 sq km).  Because of damage to the fishery due to pollution in June 2008, fishing is ‘catch and release’ only until September 2009.

I was unable to photograph the bridge from the other side due to the trees, so I went back to a previous visit for this view.  I think it was March 2005.

CillDaraMan: Born for the Spotlight

Born for the Spotlight
I was lucky enough today to be part of a group which were taken for a tour of the world famous Coolmore Stud. The place itself is home to some of the best stallions in the world but also loads of foals, this one found all the visitors extremely interesting.
