I will admit that it is important, although the chaos that resulted after Gmail went down for an hour or so (for some, longer) last night was quite surreal. Thousands of tweets, widespread panic, and even an article to mark the occasion.
“productivity up of 20 million people” - Techcrunch
Though for many people, this quote is completely untrue. So many of us rely on Gmail. What do we do when it goes down? Should this make us think about having backups of our backups?
We all assume Google’s servers are safe for hundreds of years, but are they? Maybe they are, but sometimes things go wrong, even just for a short period of time. They tell us that although something has gone wrong, all our stuff is still safe - reassuring, but what if it wasn’t.
There wouldn’t be a lot we could do about it, we aren’t paying for anything after all, and mistakes do happen. Systems do go wrong.

But what if Twitter and Gmail were down at the same time??

So I am back with the SLR again, even though the last photo I put up from the iPhone is a great capture of Rebecca, the iPhone camera really aint much.
So while on holidays down in Wexford we decided to go the the Irish National Heritage Park again in Ferrycarrig. We were there last year and really enjoyed our day there so why not go again, this time Rebecca could run about and explore, and she loved it. While waiting for her to come out of one of the many houses that are scattered around the park a robin decided to fly down to rest on a wooden post.
I love robins their song and the fact they are so friendly to people meant I could not resist taking a snap or 2 of him.

My house-mate’s getting married tomorrow, I do hope the rain stays away.

Gaa (if you don't what "Gaa" is, visit this) is everywhere in town, at work.
The Gaa flags give colors, atmosphere to the pubs and the city!

Floods, hailstones, cold. Another typical Irish summer but thankfully it’s nice ad bright here in Blarney. Here’s a shot I took down at Allihies in West Cork back in April. It’d be perfect if the flowers were more in focus but I still love it.

Here's another, taken at the same beach and at the same time as the photo in the last post. We left before the sun had fully set, thinking we had got the best of it. On the way home, past Tralee, we were treated to the most stunning red sunset I've ever seen in my life. If we had just stayed twenty minutes longer on the beach, I think I could have taken some of my best photos ever. I was still very happy with what I did take, but if only...
