The Kinetics were one of the surprise acts of the weekend at this year’s Indie-Pendence Festival in Mitchelstown. I had never heard of them but they have a great sound and are sure to go far. You could even say they have a lot of potential after putting on a fantastic energetic performance (all puns intentional and well-meant). Lead-singer Gaz Harding could be mistaken for lead singer of The Strokes Julian Casablancas but this is where they need to be careful. Ireland has plenty of bands capable of emulating this style of music with the likes of The Blizzards putting more of a ska element into their music and Delorentos creating luscious melodies. The Kinetiks are in the same field as these two bands who have already done quite well but it’ll be interesting to see how The Kinetiks make their mark.

I am still figuring out what image processing software I prefer and will use most often, since purchasing my Mac a few months ago. I know a few photographers who use Lightroom for image processing. I’m not sure what I will eventually stick with or what is the best, though Lightroom is very nice. This shot from Kinsale in County Cork, is actually the first image I have published where I used Lightroom for the processing.
What do you use for image processing?

La Salle Street in Chicago ends abruptly in the Chicago Board of Trade at the far end of the street. It’s an unusual street because all the streets in Chicago just go on and on, mostly in parallel, through the city. This one just stops!
La Salle Bank which is barely visible at the left of this image is also in the background of The Dark Knight Batman movie.

Finally I can upload photos! My broadband has been broken since last week and I was going through withdrawl not being able to upload anything!
So how was your bank holiday weekend? Ours was on the housebound side since Eve wasn’t too well. She was in good spirits though and it was more me and Matt that were going a little stir-crazy being stuck in. We bought her one of those little blow up paddling pools and she spent most of the weekend out in the garden trying to persuade the cats to join her for a swim.
