this is actually a public road, close to the village of Ballinaboy. one, passing through the gate, just has to leave it closed behind him as instructed on the sign.

Biosphere 2 lies in the dusty hot desert in Arizona. It was originally designed as a self contained “world” where scientists stayed for an extended period of time. After going through the tour, there’s no way I’d volunteer to spend my time inside. It must have been very difficult being cooped up in one building. The Wikipedia page on the project has a lot more detail about what went on there.
Anyway, the building is very striking to look at, especially as the day was fine and interesting clouds added to the scene.

photographed the jack and jill annual day in kilmainham today as a charity gig for a friend and previous co-worker. the rain which had pounded my velux window of my apartment earlier that morning subsided for the event with a parting moses would have been proud of!!!.
the turnout was very good, and with it a sunny day reflected happiness in the faces of both children and adults.
this foundation needs to raise approx three million a year to operate and I admired the sponsors and the volume of gifts which were donated.
the cause is such a worthy one particularly when you see the children, their issues, and how brave they are in the face of such debilitation. mary hanafin as ever turned up and added some character to the already very successful event. mary has supported this cause on an ongoing basis, and this was echoed by the kind words regarding such support by the foundation.
popped along to see tommy emmanuel on friday nite in tripod. was blown away by this man's sheer brilliance on guitar, his ability to play drums, acoustic picking, bass and sing all at the same time was bewildering. a true genius incarnate.
favourites such as "classical gas" and "angelina" were played with such precision I could only stand in awe and admire. pity I missed the vicar st gig two years back...........

All photographs this week are going to be from my weekend in Cork City.
It felt quite surreal to be all the way at the bottom of this [small] island and back again in one weekend, as well as the fact that I haven’t been anywhere new on the island, in a few years.
I got back yesterday feeling very tired after essentially travelling for 7 hours.
This is a photograph was taken on Sullivan’s Quay by the Southern Channel.
